Employee Card and Visa Process

In the Czech Republic there is no separate "work visa" for most hires. Employment longer than three months runs on the dual-purpose Employee Card (zaměstnanecká karta) — one permit covering residence and work — with the EU Blue Card as the route for highly qualified roles. Praxis runs employer documents, the Labour Office vacancy register, the embassy file and DMW clearance as one connected lane.

What happens inside the lane

Typical range: 8–16 weeks
  1. 01Job Order Approval (DMW)

Every Czech placement starts with a job order verified under Philippine DMW rules — employer documents, manpower request and the model employment contract are cleared before recruitment opens.

  2. 02Vacancy Registered with the Labour Office

The Czech employer reports the vacancy to the Labour Office (Úřad práce) and it must appear in the central register of vacancies available to Employee Card holders. Only registered positions can be filled by a third-country national.

  3. 03Employee Card Application (zaměstnanecká karta)

The worker files the dual-purpose Employee Card at the Czech Embassy in Manila — it combines residence and work authorisation for jobs longer than 3 months. Highly qualified roles may instead use the EU Blue Card.

  4. 04Embassy Appointment and Biometrics

Appointment slots at the Czech Embassy are booked through the official system. The applicant submits the contract, qualifications, accommodation proof, passport, photos and travel medical insurance, and pays the administrative fee. Statutory decision period is 60 days (90 in complex cases).

  5. 05DMW Processing

In parallel, Praxis completes Philippine-side requirements — contract verification, Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC) and DMW clearances.

  6. 06Medical Clearance and PDOS

Candidates pass the DMW-accredited medical examination and attend the mandatory Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar covering the contract, rights and Czech workplace expectations.

  7. 07Entry Visa and Deployment

After approval, a long-stay visa is issued to collect the card. Workers travel only once every document, approval and clearance is secured.

  8. 08Arrival Formalities in Czechia

Within 3 working days the worker gives biometrics at the Ministry of the Interior (MV ČR) and collects the biometric Employee Card, registers the address, and completes the adaptation-integration course required within one year of arrival.

Typical timeline
Week 1–2

Intake, contracts and DMW job order

Week 2–5

Sourcing, shortlisting and employer interviews

Week 4–6

Labour Office vacancy registration

Week 6–16

Employee Card decision, visa and arrival

Actual timing depends on employer readiness, Labour Office registration, embassy appointment availability, the 60-day statutory decision period for the Employee Card and final DMW clearance. Praxis keeps each dependency visible so the schedule does not drift quietly.
