Trade testing: what employers should demand before an offer

A CV proves history. A trade test proves capability. Here is how a proper assessment is structured and documented.

The costliest hiring mistake in overseas recruitment is discovering on the jobsite that a worker cannot perform to the standard the contract assumed. Trade testing eliminates that risk before the offer is signed.

What a real trade test includes

  • A practical task mirroring your actual production conditions and materials.
  • Assessment by a certified assessor, not a recruiter.
  • Photo and video documentation of the finished work.
  • A written scorecard against defined pass criteria.
  • For welders: position, process and material class recorded explicitly.

Employer participation

The best results come when the employer supplies the test brief. If you share your drawings, tolerances or equipment models, we replicate them at the testing centre — so what you see is what arrives.

Remote employers can join by video call, review recordings, or send a technical representative to Manila for final selection rounds.
