Gulf or Europe? Comparing deployment routes for Filipino crews

Processing time, cost structure, contract norms and retention — an honest comparison of the two dominant destinations.

Employers often ask which route is faster or cheaper. The honest answer is that they solve different problems.

Speed

GCC deployments are typically faster — 60 to 100 days is realistic once accreditation is in place, because visa infrastructure for Filipino workers is mature and high volume. European routes usually run 90 to 140 days, driven by work-permit procedures in the destination country.

Contract norms

  • GCC: employer-provided accommodation, transport and food allowance are standard; contracts commonly run two years.
  • Europe: higher net wages, statutory social security and paid leave; accommodation support varies by country and sector.

Retention

European placements show stronger long-term retention where the employer supports family reunification or long-term residency. GCC placements retain well where renewal bonuses and clear rotation schedules are in place.

Praxis is accredited for both. We advise based on your production calendar, budget structure and the roles involved — not on which route is easier for us.
